Celtics Edge Mavericks to Take 4-0 Series Lead

Highlights from Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals

Despite a Resilient Performance from Irving and Doncic, Celtics' Defense Prevails

The Boston Celtics have taken a commanding 4-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-98 in Game 4. The Celtics' dynamic duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 49 points, while Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving scored 23 and 22 for the Mavericks, respectively.

Despite a sluggish start and a 10-point deficit in the first quarter, the Celtics managed to regain their composure and establish control of the game. Their defense played a crucial role, particularly in the second half, as they held the Mavericks to just 36% shooting and forced 15 turnovers.

The Celtics' dominance was evident in the paint, where they outrebounded the Mavericks 51-31. Robert Williams III had a particularly impressive performance with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Al Horford added 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Mavericks, who entered the game with some hope after the absence of Celtics' star forward Kristaps Porzingis, struggled to find their rhythm. They shot just 25% from three-point range and were plagued by turnovers throughout the contest.

With Game 5 set to take place on Friday in Boston, the Mavericks face an almost insurmountable challenge as they have become the first team in NBA history to lose the first four games of an NBA Finals series.
